Mrs. Mariyambibi D.M. Lockhat Primary Girls' School [Guj. Medium]

Introduction :

The Mrs. Mariyambibi D. M. Lockhat, Primary Girls School, Kathor, Ta. Kamrej, Dis. Surat managed by Madressa Anjumane Islam is the primary school for girls. Here only lady teachers impart the education. It has a unique place in Kathor.

The school was established in 1906. Till 1980, it was a primary school up to std. 5th.

From 1981 to 1909  the school was in the building of Madressa in the Philanthropic from std. 1st  to 7th.

Because of increasing awareness about the education in the village and constant flow of the donation from the generous donors of the village, a separate building for primary education was built in the Katharada Vadi by the M. A. I. Trust. Due to increase in the strength, the education was imparted in that building for some year's in shift system.

For last fifteen years, the primary boys' school has been running in its own separate building with full facilities due to efforts of Dr. Moosaji Lokhat Saheb. Besides, under the supervision of the management, because of best efforts of teacher and constant increasing in the strength, there are std. 1st to 7th with two division of each standard. The total strength of students are 657.

Standard 1 to 7 the first division are Government granted and salaries are also provided by govt. While as the second division of 1 to 7 are non-granted and the salaries are paid by the institution. Poor students who are studying in this divisions are given facilities by providing free books, uniforms etc. These are paid by the institution. The institution gets donation from the donors and then this facilities are provided by the Trust to these poor students.

Still the strength of student is increasing. If the facility of building is made available, there will be more increase in the strength.

At present in the school building there are 14 class rooms, office of the principal and the staff room.

If the facilities like computer lab, science lab, drawing room, library and prayer hall are made available, it will be very much helpful in the all round development of children.

Because of the visit of the trusties increase in the facilities and improvement in the education is made. From the current year we have started teaching English subject in the std. 3rd and 4th with a view to cultivating the interest of our children in English subject.
